Above are the images from my Claudia shoot. I am really happy with how these images have come out. I wanted my Claudia character to be strong and fierce but also have a gothic vibe about her. I really like how her bright hair stands out so much because of the dark background and the leather jacket.

Final Quentin Facechart
This design was a combination of the the practice designs I did. I felt that I wanted to show my technical skill therefore added the 'branched' affect. I wanted the face to look really sculptured therefore I used the a dark colour to shade the face.

Final Claudia Facechart
I chose this as my final design because I felt like it had elements from the other designs but make into one. I didn't want to make the character look crazy because she needs to appeal to the audience.

Why I chose American Horror Story: Season 1
We were given a possible listen of TV series that we could
pick from to incorporate our characters from. The list included:
The Walking Dead
•American Horror Story
•Dexter
•True Blood
•Bates Motel
•Buffy the Vampire Slayer
•Vampire Diaries
•Penny Dreadful
•In the Flesh
•Being Human
•Hemlock Grove
•Hannibal
From this list I chose American Horror story and picked
season 1. I chose this because I had only watched 1 other series from that list
and felt that I wouldn’t be able to achieve the look I wanted and that the
characters wouldn’t fit well into that story line. I am not normally into
Horror series but fell in love with AHS, the creativeness of using the same
actors but changing their characters is something that hasn’t been done because
and it really refreshing. My favourite season is AHS: Coven but I felt that I wouldn’t
be able to fit Claudia and Quentin into them as well as in Murder House.

Quentin
When looking at the characters we could pick I felt that I could
incorporate Quentin into my chosen TV series the best. We were given the brief
description of:
Claudia has an
imaginary boyfriend, Quentin, who is long suffering and a constant
disappointment to her. They don’t live together but he visits regularly and
they talk on the telephone if he can’t get in to see her. As he is part of her
imagination his appearance changes to suit her mood. Sometimes he will be a
David Beckham looking guy, whilst in another scene he will appear as a Pete
Docherty type, Daniel Craig type or a Hollyoaks Babe. If she is having a bad
day he will morph into an uncouth couch potato chav with all that brings with
it.
He is as into the
horror film genre as she and into role-playing to suit her whims and moods.
Claudia has a paranoid
suspicion that he is constantly having affairs behind her back and keeps him
firmly under her thumb, sometimes restraining him or keeping him prisoner in
one of the rooms.
Because Quentin does live with Claudia I am going to
incorporate him as being a patient of ‘Dr Ben’. Being treated for a mental
illness Claudia sees him as always letting her down, whether because he doesn’t
show up to the house or even his appointments with the doctor. The look I am
going to give him is a gothic and edgy vibe, he will wear only black like
Claudia but often appears shirtless to show off his toned physique. With a very
sculptured face and dark hair and eye makeup he could appear to be a scary
character.
Claudia
When we were told that we had to pick characters for this
part of our assessment I immediately know that I wanted to create a Claudia.
From the beginning I had an image in my head of how I wanted her to look and
how she would be incorporated into my chosen TV show. I felt that she would fit
really well into American Horror Story Season 1, because of the uncertainty of
not knowing what character in the Murder House is dead or alive we never really
know whether she is or if her imaginary boyfriend is.
We were given the brief of Claudia:
Claudia is a girl in
her twenties. As a child she was left alone to develop with little parental
guidance and through her relationship with T.V. movies developed an unhealthy
relationship with Horror films, believing this to be the way life really is.
All the scenes take
place in various parts of Claudia’s apartment, which is European in style with a
great deal of kitsch décor. She is agoraphobic and is kept in touch with the
outside world by her neighbours who provide her with her every day requirements. She models herself on a variety of girls
often twisting her look to suit whichever film she is watching at the time and
there is often a nod to the main character in the current film within her
appearance.
The script portrays her as psychotic and there
is always the feeling that although her character is scripted/can be seen as
humorous, danger is just around the corner.
However all this is normal to Claudia and she is of a cheerful
disposition in this mad world of hers.
Because of Claudia unhealthy obsession with Horror it is
represented in her style, she wears dark eye makeup and blood red lips. Never
anything but black and with her fiery red hair she stands out from the crowd.
